Reza Ghafoorian, M.D., Esq.
Dr. Ghafoorian founded G2Z Law Group, PLLC in 2012 with the vision of providing comprehensive and quality health law counseling to healthcare professionals and businesses. Dr. Ghafoorian focuses his practice on two legal fields: Institutional health law and patent law. As a medical doctor and an attorney, Dr. Ghafoorian has knowledge of the difficulties of managing and maintaining a healthcare practice and a deep understanding of the issues faced by healthcare practitioners. Dr. Ghafoorian focuses his practice on counseling healthcare clients on healthcare regulations including Stark Law and Antikickback Law, HIPAA, HITECH, Telemedicine/Telehealth, and EMTALA. Dr. Ghafoorian has also experience in providing general counsel services to healthcare organizations including advising clients on healthcare lease agreements, DC Certificate of Need process, ambulatory surgery center requirements, review of hospital privileges and medical staff memberships, establishing ancillary services, and representing healthcare professionals in disciplinary matters.
Dr. Ghafoorian has also over 14 years of experience in drafting and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications. Dr. Ghafoorian was a Patent Examiner in the biotechnology group at the US Patent and Trademark Office for over 7 years. As an Examiner, Dr. Ghafoorian examined domestic and national stage PCT patent applications in the fields of gene expression, bio-devices, medical devices, medical diagnostics, bioinformatics and protein expression. As a patent attorney in private practice, Dr. Ghafoorian has experience in drafting and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications in the fields of biotechnology, medical devices and software application.
